Hoarding fee estimate 2024/25

This estimate provides an indication of fees and bonds that may apply when seeking to install hoardings in the City of Sydney local government area. We can only provide a definitive cost when your application has been lodged and assessed.

Note: Where a hoarding installation is proposed to form a work or storage compound on a footway the fees estimator cannot be used. You will need to refer to the City’s Schedule of Fees and Charges to obtain the applicable fee rate.

Type A

Placed on granite

Square metre measurements should be based on the area of pavement over which the hoarding is placed.

Placed on granite and protected using 12mm thick water resistant plywood laid on a durable plastic sheet membrane

For minor works only, like shopfront works bond not required.

Square metre measurements should be based on the length of the hoarding and the full width of the footway.

Bond not required where the temporary structure installed above the public road/footway (not installed on the surface of the public place).

Street trees

An additional bond may be levied for street trees in the area of a proposed hoarding.

This bond will be calculated after your application is lodged and assessed.

Artwork and graphics requirements

Some hoardings will require artwork or graphics depending on the location in the local area and the length of time the hoardings are erected. If you are required to install hoarding artwork or graphics, you will need to consider additional design costs.

Hoarding unit prices (city centre)

Type A

  • No traffic barrier: $12.03 per linear metre per week
  • With traffic barrier: $14.93 per linear metre per week

Type B (include catilevered structures)

  • No sheds: $16.91 per linear metre per week
  • With single storey single row sheds : $32.36 per linear metre per week
  • With single storey double row sheds: $64.75 per linear metre per week
  • With double storey single row sheds : $48.22 per linear metre per week
  • With double storey double row sheds: $96.99 per linear metre per week

Hoarding unit prices (outside city centre)

Type A

  • No traffic barrier: $8.93 per linear metre per week
  • With traffic barrier: $10.47 per linear metre per week

Type B (include catilevered structures)

  • No sheds: $12.03 per linear metre per week
  • With single storey single row sheds : $17.64 per linear metre per week
  • With single storey double row sheds: $35.27 per linear metre per week
  • With double storey single row sheds : $34.26 per linear metre per week
  • With double storey double row sheds: $68.62 per linear metre per week

Performance bond unit prices

Type A

  • Placed on granite: $746 per square metre of coverage
  • Placed on granite using 12mm thick plywood protection include amendment on calculator sheet: $0.00 per square metre of coverage
  • Placed on non-granite surfaces: $0.00 per linear metre

Type B

  • Placed on granite: $746 per square metre of coverage
  • Placed on non-granite surfaces: $1,487 per linear metre
